en-CA From a watercolour 11 8/8 x 14 9/16 (289 x 367) in the Sigmund Samuel Collection, Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto #965.125 Inscribed l.l. recto of mount Horseshoe fall - Niagara 1831 -J.E.A. The figure of Francis Abbott, the 'Hermit of Niagara' is shown hanging in a customart pose from a beam of timber projecting from Terrapin Bridge over the falls. Abbott took up residence on Goat Island from June 1829 until his death by drowning on June 10, 1831.
