en-CA Niagara Falls Heritage Foundation Government of Canada Local Initiatives Grant AK 2403-9 1974 - 1975 ; artistic recreation from a stereography by George Barker in the Earl W Brydges Public Library, Niagara Falls, NY ; research by George Seibel ; Men of opportunity erect shanties, some of them dignified with the name of hotel, on the ice bridge, along the path. These buildings are a wonder. They spring up in a day, in an hour in fact. Their only foundation is the ice and each one has nearly 200 feet of water in the "cellar" ;
