Financial difficulties brought on by the failure of traffic to develp as anticipated after the opening of the Railway Suspension Bridge and uncertain business conditinos due to the impending Civil War in the US led to the sale of the boat at public auction in 1861. It was purchased by a Montreal firm, on the condition that it be delivered into Lake Ontario. One June 6th 1861, Captain Joel Robinson and a crew of two took the boat through the Rapids to Queenston" ; research by George Seibel ;
