en-CA The fire began in the north wing next to the Lafayette Hotel, very early in the morning and spread through the inside of the hotel attic ; in this view taken 3 days after the fire began firemen are still pouring water onto the embers in the west wing where the fire began. The square building showing over the top of the ruins in the centre is the United Office building located across the Niagara River in Niagara Falls New York ;
