Spanning a career in basketball for almost forty years, Niagara Falls native George Kraus attended Westlane Secondary School and the University of Western Ontario. After Graduation, George taught Physical and Health education in Markham. George coached many sports teams with the main focus on basketball. He had more than 800 wins within the York Region, winning championships and taking both boys and girls teams to the Provincial championships. From 1979-1983, George coached the Seneca College Men’s Basketball team, leading them to victory in the Provincial Championship in 1982 and third Nationally in 1983. George traveled to the United States to be an Assistant Coach for NCAA Women’s basketball, winning the North Atlantic Conference in 1994 and advancing to the NCAA tournament. Back in Canada, George coached AAU with Grass Roots Canada and Conquest Basketball. He developed and coached at camps in Ontario, developing athletes who have gone on to play College basketball in both Canada and the United States and many who went on to play professional basketball. George continues to coach basketball in his retirement, bringing his expertise to the Ridgeway Crystal Beach Basketball Team and giving back to the Niagara community.
