Description
Steve Ludzik came to the City of Niagara Falls in 1978 to play hockey for the famed Niagara Falls Flyers of the Ontario Hockey League. He enjoyed a meteoric junior career setting scoring records that stand today.
In 1980, Steve was drafted 28th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks, of the National Hockey League. Ludzik played professional hockey for ten years, spending the majority of his career with the Blackhawks. After retiring as a player, in 1999, Steve became the Head Coach of the NHL Tampa Bay Lighting Hockey Team. Following his coaching career, Ludzik became a television hockey analyst on various shows broadcast across Canada.
Since his arrival as a Junior Hockey player, Steve has made Niagara Falls his permanent residence and continues to contribute and stay involved in the community. In 2000, Steve was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and he has formed the Steve Ludzik Centre for Parkinson's Rehab, a free clinic for Niagara Residents funded by the Steve Ludzik Charity Foundation.
