Description
Michelle Edgar was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on December 3, 1982. She took an interest in sports at a very young age. Michelle is a graduate of the Niagara Rapids Girls Hockey Association and the Niagara Falls Soccer Club. Michelle's incredible athletic talent, team commitment and strong work ethic earned her many awards and accolades in women's ice hockey, ball hockey and soccer at the provincial, national and international levels.
Michelle played ball hockey in her parent's driveway with her brother from the time she could walk. In 2007, she was playing at the provincials and played at the nationals the following year, and was selected for Team Canada. Michelle won a gold medal playing ball hockey for Canada at the 2009 World Championships held in the Czech Republic.
From 2001 to 2006, Michelle was a dual-sport athlete at Brock University. As a member of the Women's Varsity Hockey Team, she won the A.G. Lowenberger Award, Hockey Leadership Award, and Coaches Award. Michelle was also team captain, selected Most Valuable Player (MVP) and an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) "All-Star" in Women's Varsity Soccer.
Michelle played semi-pro soccer as Captain of the Hamilton Lady Avalanche Team and competed in professional ice hockey for three years in Slovenia. Following these endeavors, she continued to play women's ice hockey and soccer at the provincial level.
Michelle is very humble when speaking about her athletic accomplishments, however, she is extremely proud to be a member of the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame.
