Description

Todd Simon's minor hockey career was spent playing for the Toronto Young Nationals "AAA" hockey teams and the Don Mills (Flyers) Midgets, before being drafted by the Niagara Falls Thunder of the Ontario Hockey League (O.H.L.).
Todd had an impressive junior career with the Thunder. In his final season 1991-92, Todd won the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as the league scoring champion, and the Red Tilson Trophy as the O.H.L.'s most outstanding player. During the play-off's, he scored 17 goals and 24 assists in only 17 games. Todd was selected to the O.H.L.'s first All-Star Team, and the Canadian Hockey League (C.H.L.).
In the 1992 National Hockey League (N.H.L.) entry draft, Todd was selected by the Buffalo Sabres, signed a three year contract, and was assigned to their American Hockey League (A.H.L.) team in Rockester, New York. In the 93-94 Sabres regular season, Todd was called up to play the final 15 games, and 5 games in the Stanley Cup play-offs. In that short stint, he played against his idol, Wayne Gretzky. Todd's professional hockey career also included playing with three International Hockey League (I.H.L.) teams over a five year period and eight seasons in Europe.
After retiring in 2008, Todd returned to Niagara Falls and created Todd Simon Hockey Development to foster and develop youth hockey skills. Todd has worked with thousands of players of all ages throughout Niagara. Todd is the Coordinator of Player Development and Coaches Mentor for the Niagara Falls Minor Hockey Association, and has utilized his talents and knowledge of the game as an Assistant Coach for the Niagara Falls Junior "B" Canucks during the 2015-16 season. Todd continues to work with the Canucks as their Skills Development Coach. Todd Simon's credentials have earned him status on the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame.
