Bill Reece was a tremendous asset to Niagara Falls Baseball from the early 1940's to the late 1960's. He served in many roles during this time period. He was chairman for several Pee-Wee and Bantam tournaments. His service also included the positions of secretary and registrar for The Greater Niagara Baseball Association (G.N.B.A.) (1964-1965), of which he was a lifetime member. On the field of play, from the late 1940's to the early 1950's, Bill performed with the Oneida Community Plate Baseball Team and also served several years as an umpire of the sport. Bill made the decision to become a minor league baseball coach where he could best serve the game. His coaching tenure included the Canadian Legion Peewees (Ontario Champions), Kinsmen Peewees, Modern Tile Peewees, Stamford Centre Volunteer Firemen Bantams and The Niagara Falls Bantams. Bill Reece’s desire, dedication, knowledge of coaching and teaching contributions to minor baseball in Niagara Falls set an exceptional example for future coaches to follow. Most of the players that he coached grew up to be honorable citizens of our community and some went on to play professional sports.
