Growing up and playing sports is something many people do, but excelling to the collegiate and professional ranks is an opportunity that very few have the chance to experience. For Jessica Kemp, she was able to use her skills to excel through basketball to a stellar and very successful college career and education at Niagara University, as well as play in the professional ranks. A regular in the Niagara record books, during her four year career on Monteagle Ridge she has the distinction of being a 1,000 point club member, the record for most games played in women’s basketball, Rookie of the Year as a freshman, as well as both the Coaches award and Defensive Player of the Year award as a senior. Following her fourth season she moved on to play professionally in Holland for the Katwijk Grasshoppers Division I basketball team. Also, the former A.N Myer high school student was added to the “Wall of Distinction” in recognition of her successes on the courts, but she also has recognition off the court being recognized as a member of the Dean’s List for all four of her years as a Purple Eagle. To add to her academic success she also obtained her MBA after completing her undergraduate degree in Business Marketing. It is safe to say that Jessica made the most out of her talents in basketball, and that she is an ideal role model for any up and coming athletes striving to excel both academically and athletically.
