Oct 11,1803); father of Michael M., Samuel S., Ann Hannah, Sarah Hameline Smith, John Walter, Catherine M. Hunter, James Nelson, William Hamilton, Harriette Marguerette Gage, George Hamilton and Celista T.; son of Anna (nee Marcellus) and John Mills; 1793 emigrated to Canada from Staten Island; never received land grant of 200 acres to which he was entitled as son of Loyalist; fur trader for the Indians; 1800 settled permanently in Upper Canada; taylor in Ancaster; well educated; prepared some contracts and land deeds; during last years became entirely blind;
