en-CA only son of Robert Patterson; after several trials and rejections enlisted Dec 15,1915 with 92nd Highlanders; May 1916 overseas; Sept 1916 served in France on the Somme; Oct 6,1916 wounded and returned to England; Mar 21,1917 sent back to France; Aug 27,1917 buried and badly crushed by shell explosion; Apr 15,1918 arrived back in Canada and hospitalized until discharge Dec 13,1918;
