Henry Addington Simcoe and Sophia; 1st cjhild was born 1783; son of Commander John Graves Simcoe; educated in Exeter, Eton and Merton College, Oxford; Queen's Rangers; 1791 returned to England; was elected member in House of Commons; 1792 returned to Canada as 1st Governor of Upper Canada; 1796 appointed Civil Governor of St. Domingo B.W. Indies; 1797 Lieut.-General of British Army;
