- en-CA born among Mohawks in Ohio in 1742; died 14.11.1807 at age 64 yrs in Wellington Square or Burlington; Six Nation Chief; married 1st wife Margaret (d. 1772) in 1765; married half-sister of 1st wife in 1773: Susannah; 3rd wife: Katharine (or Catharine, daughter of Mohawk Chief); father of Isaac and Christina (by 1st wife Margaret) and of Joseph, Jacob, John (Capt. John Brant or Ahyouwaighs), Margaret, Katharine (Catherine), Mary and Elizabeth (m. Kerr) (all by 3rd wife Katharine);son of Nickus Brant; brother of Mary (m. Johnson); great-grandfather of Osoap (or Back Fat from Crooked Lake) and Miss Jessie Osborne; Brant's tomb was erected 1850 (see inscription pg. 62)
