Greater Niagara Softball Draw- 1968

The Federal Minister of Agriculture, the Honourable J.J Greene is shown making the weekly draw for the Greater Niagara Softball Association on Tuesday June the 18th at Ker Park. In the photo, left to right are: League President Leo A. Burger, Liberal Riding Candidate Hon. Mr. (Joe) Greene and League Past President Dom Senese. Mr. Greene won at the polls the following week June 25th.

Greater Niagara Softball Association Honours Softball Stars

Greater Niagara Softball Association honours four outstanding individual trophy winners who are shown in the front row. From left to right, are Joe Mastria, manager of the Drake Hotel team and honoured as "Mr. Softball for 1962", hurler Billy Glashan of Rapids-Flyers who was named the loops most valuable pitcher, Tommy Buchanan of Drake Hotel selected as the leagues most valuable player and Doug Climenhage of Drakes named most valuable rookie. Standing in back, left to right, are GNSA secretary Gord Gillette, treasure Ken Barrow, president Rob Barnes and immediate past president Leo Burger.

Top team and individual awards for the Niagara Distric senior fastball league and the local GNSA were presented at the Park Motor Hotel when the District loop banquet was held. Shown in the above photo, left to right, are Fran Stuart voted the most valuable player in the GNSA, Dick Duggan who shared the most valuable pitching award in the district loop with team mate ED Neudorf, president of the District fastball league Wilf Garett and GNSA president Leo Burger. Scotty Watson was master of ceremonies for the evening with other top trophies going to district league batting champ Pete Favorite of Stadium Grill, Al Beckman as the district league's most valuable player, Bill Glashan of Supremes as the Terry Mann Memorial Trophy recipient and John Watson as the GNSA's most gentlemanly and effective player as well as the loop batting champ

Six individuals honoured at the annual banquet of the Greater Niagara Softball Association.

Along with the team champions honoured at last night's annual banquet of the Greater Niagara Softball Association held at the Rapids Hotel, six individuals came in for coveted awards as a result of their 1961 accomplishments. From left to right are, Dave Pietrobon of the Rapids Hotel team as the rookie of the year; hurler Bill Glashan of Flyers; most valuable player on all-star night; Henry Sokolowski, playing-manager of Daws Sheet Metal and the year's most valuable pitcher; Dave Merritt of Venetian who accepted the home-run trophy on behalf of absent team-mate Elmer Vasko; Gord Gillette, named "Mr. Softball" of 1961 and catcher Dave Kemp of Drummond Cycle, the league's most valuable player. Daws were league playoff and OASA champions the past season while Podhorns Hotel copped the league pennant honours.
