This is the dry crest of the western branch of the first falls at the Glen. It was abandoned when the main eastern falls which flowed on the other side of the island which existed off Wintergreen point, cut into its bed at Cripps Eddy. This cut off the flow of water, drying up the river bed, which was higher then its eastern branch. The former river bed is now the Wintergreen Flats picnic area at the Glen.
