Each concrete encased conduit is 19 feet in diameter, 492 feet long, and descends the cliff at an angle of 60 degrees. The first concrete pouring for the saddles or beds of No 1 and No 2 penstocks is shown. Some idea of the size of the trench may be gathered by the men standing on the formwork (centre foreround) ;
