Sir Adam Beck 2 Power Generating Station - trench excavation for penstocks
Description
Niagara Falls Heritage Foundation
en-CA A close-up view of trench excavation for the penstocks, through which the water drops vertically some 295 feet to the turbines. Each concrete encased conduit is 19 feet in diameter, 492 feet long, and descends the cliff at an angle of 60 degrees. The first concrete pouring for the saddles or beds of No 1 and No 2 penstocks is shown. Some idea of the size of the trench may be gathered by the men standing on the formwork (centre foreround) ;
