Jordan Station Canning Factory

item
Title
Jordan Station Canning Factory
Description
en-CA Built by Dominion Cannery in 1913, and taken over by Canadian Canners in 1923. The cannery remained active until 1958. It then became a poultry barn for about 10 years, then became empty until levelled by fire on April 1, 1978. This photo was taken after 1923 based on the fact that it was closed due to inadequate water supply from 1920 to 1924. The two water towers were built in 1923 ready for the 1924 season, using a new water line to Lake Ontario about 2 km away. Information supplied by Mr. William Chajkowsky
