- en-CA From the personal collection of Ruth Deacon ; Laura Ingersoll Secord died in 1868 at the age of ninety three. She is Canada's most famous heroine. Born in Massachusetts she came to Canada at the age of twenty and during her lifetime the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the American Civil War, and the Fenian Raids all occurred. The family homestead was located in Queenston Ontario and it was from here that she made her famous walk through twenty miles of wild countryside to alert troops of the impending American attack. The family later moved to Chippawa. Both houses still exist today. Laura Secord is buried in the Drummond Hill Cemetery, Niagara Falls, Canada ;
