He received the medal in the mail after the war and had to arrange himself, the presentation by the Prince of Wales when the Prince visited Niagara Falls ; His citation reads "During an attack near Hendecourt on 30th August 1918, when the advance held up, he organized a bombing party, and working up a communications trench, he cleared it of the enemy. Throughout the action his gallantry and fine powers of leadership inspired his men and carried them forward in spite of all difficulties" ;
