Photographs were taken by Fred Helie, a worker on the project sometime between 1950 - 1958
en-CA Well-drillers at work. An 18 inch hole was bored through the surface straight down to the tunnel below, averaging from 290 ft to 350 ft in depth, depending on the location. These holes were bored at 400 ft. intervals, following the contour of the tunnel below. A 10" steel pipe was then inserted for the full length of the hole. This pipe in turn was used to drop the concrete to a hopper in the tunnel which in turn transferred it to the pumpcrete machines
