en-CA Although the newspaper lists E. Hanlon, it is actually Edward John Hanlin, 4th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He joined the Welland Canal Force in July/August 1914, signed his papers in Valcartier, Quebec, and sailed for England in October 1914, which is probably when this photo was taken. He was wounded 3 times, gassed once, then returned to Niagara Falls, worked as a millwright, and lived on Centre Street. He had 4 children, and died in 1936
