Title
Outarde of O & O Lines at Robin Hood Mills, Port Colborne, Ontario
Description
en-CA It's a familiar sight to residents of Port Colborne. A ship sitting by the Robin Hood Flour Mills at the Lake Erie entrance to the Welland canal. A late bloomer when compared to some settlements in Niagara, the place we now call Port Colborne had its beginning in 1832 as Gravely Bay when the Second Welland Canal reached Lake Erie. Not long after that a proper town site was laid out and the name changed to Port Colborne in honour of Sir John Colborne, Govenor of Canada at the time. Port Colborne is also the site of one of the world's largest lift locks. the Welland Canal's Lock 8.
