en-CA By the time the falls had reached this point - Wintergreen Point - the outlet of lake Iroquois became blocked when the land thee rebounded after being relieved of the crushing weight of the glacier, so that comparatively little water could flow from Lake Iroquois to the ocean. The lake water backed up into the river, decreasing the height of the falls and reducing its erosive power.
