Francis J. Petrie was for many years the City Historian of Niagara Falls, as well as the author of a regular newspaper column in the Niagara Falls Review.
After his death many of his photographs, negatives, slides, and postcards were donated to the Library.
A handwritten notation on reverse indicates that Mr Cardy was the new manager of the Clifton House Hotel in Niagara Falls but this is unconfirmed ; the local newspaper does indicate that a Mr A J Cardy was the owner of the Savoy Hotel during the years 1910 -1912 ;

Forward in the 1980's foe the development of the property, including a marina, a housing development. At the present, October 1991, the Town of Fort Erie is making pplans to establish a public park here
Pebbly Beach at the North end of the Niagara Glen. There is low water as a result of water diversion for electric power. The last major diversion occured in 1962, when the Robert Moses Power Generating Station went into service. This area is now covered with brush and trees
The old Stevenson House at Stamford Centres five point intersection as it appeared in 1920 when the Imperial Bank of Canada opened its first Stamford Centre branch here.
date of photograph is unknown but a note on the revers indicates it is circa 1950s and taken before the major diversion of water for the Beck and Robert Moses Generating Stations
