Francis J. Petrie was for many years the City Historian of Niagara Falls, as well as the author of a regular newspaper column in the Niagara Falls Review.
After his death many of his photographs, negatives, slides, and postcards were donated to the Library.
Mr. Collett, old fire hall on the left; A.H. Collett's fireproof storage building was located at 7 Market Square in Niagara Falls - Now part of the City Hall Complex. Mr. Collett was a furniture mover-household removals and piano hoisting. He was also an auctioneer. His moving company was called Power City Transport
Ernie's Esso, formerly Gracey's Esso, being demolished to make room for a parking lot for the Canadian Tire Store which was located in the former Loblaws Grocery Store ;
Either Roy or Gordon Criger Filling a can with gas from the pump which stood in front of Criger's in 1925. The building with the hip roof behind the billboards is on the South side of Queen St., West of St. Lawrence. It was the natural ice rink which was used for public skating and hockey. It was destroyed by fire soon after 1925 and a new arena was built on Victoria Avenue with artificial ice.
- The British American Service Station replaced Price Brothers and was known as Fry's Service Station, operated by Chuck Fry. The T. Eaton Building ( Eaton's Department Store ), sits in the background on the left side of picture.
