Francis J. Petrie was for many years the City Historian of Niagara Falls, as well as the author of a regular newspaper column in the Niagara Falls Review.
After his death many of his photographs, negatives, slides, and postcards were donated to the Library.

On Cataract Ave. from 1885 until 1927. Swept by fire in 1946 and 1951 and demolished Feb. 1965. Home of Mack Miller Candle Co. and Niagara Paper Box Co. from 1932 until fire of 1951

Built in 1909 to produce corrigated cardboard boxes. Sold to American Can Co. in 1920 and connected to it by a skywalk for 59 years. This building has recently been sold and is to be completely renovated by an undisclosed purchaser
Simcoe St. at St. Clair (Apt. building there now) Tore out buildings across the road - Benjamin Awning Styles, Movers, Walker's Laundry went right through to Ellis St. and made a park.
