1996 - The American Falls and the Maid of the Mist

Today, the maid of the Mist is one of the oldest and most awe-inspiring attractions in North America, with four boats carrying thousands of tourists each year into the magical mist. Special 150th Anniversary Limited Edition Collectors Series (1 of 6).

Early 1900's - Niagara Falls and the Maid of the Mist

The Maid of the Mist ventures through churning currents into the mist of Niagara Falls. The main cataract, which drops about 160 feet, has cut a seven mile gorge from lake Ontario to its present site. It is estimated that the Horseshoe Falls has retreated at a rate of 2.3 feet per year since 1906. Special 150th Anniversary Limited Edition Collectors Series (1 of 6).

1892- The Maid of the Mist and the Horseshoe Falls

From 1861 till 1884, there was no maid of the Mist on the Niagara River. But by 1892, the voyage was so popular a second boat was built - a powerful double engine craft of sturdy white oak. Special 150th Anniversary Limited Edition Collectors Series (1 of 6).

1846- The Maid of the Mist and the Horseshoe Falls

Launched in 1846, the very first Maid of the Mist was a steamboat with two smokestacks. In 1860, King Edward VII, then the Prince of Wales, was the first of many dignitaries to take the memorable trip. Special 150th Anniversary Limited Edition Collectors Series (1 of 6).

1956- 1970 - Maid of the Mist at the foot of the Horseshoe Falls

In 1960, the Maid of the Mist performed a historic and heroic rescue when 7-year-old Roger Woodward, wearing only a life preserver, survived a spectacular plunge over the Horseshoe Falls. Special 150th Anniversary Limited Edition Collectors Series (1 of 6).
