en-CA Inducted January 2015
en-CA From and very young age, Jamie Singleton had a deep love for football. He was part of the inaugural season of the Niagara Regional Minor Football Association in 1999. This valuable training and preparation enabled Jamie to enjoy many high school championships while attending St Paul Catholic High School, and eventually his leadership qualities were noticed by Canadian universities. Jamie considered offers from Guelph and Western, but ultimately decided to play with the McMaster Marauders of Hamilton. During his five years at McMaster, the Marauders compiled a record of 36 wins and 8 losses. They competed in 4 Yates Cups and won 2, being crowned champions of the OUA in 2011 and 2012. With the Yates Cup accomplishments, McMaster represented Ontario, winning the Uteck Bowl in 2011 and a Mitchell Bowl in 2012. This gave the Marauders the opportunity to compete in two Vanier Cup National Championships. In both instances, the Marauders were up against the always powerful Laval Rouge et Or. McMaster won their first university title in Vancouver in 2011, although losing the Vanier Cup in 2012. In 2011 the game went into overtime and was dubbed “the Canadian Game of the Century – the Greatest Game Ever” Quote from McMaster Marauder’s Head Coach Stefan Potazyk: “Jamie Singleton had a tremendous impact on my entire program during his time at McMaster. His work ethic, commitment to the team and unyielding desire made him the ideal teammate. He was a fantastic role model in the classroom, weight room, and on the playing surface from the day he arrived on campus. Jamie was an integral part of our program’s only national championship. Specifically, he helped create a culture of total commitment and unselfishness that made the difference down the stretch.”
