- en-CA Along with the team champions honoured at last night's annual banquet of the Greater Niagara Softball Association held at the Rapids Hotel, six individuals came in for coveted awards as a result of their 1961 accomplishments. From left to right are, Dave Pietrobon of the Rapids Hotel team as the rookie of the year; hurler Bill Glashan of Flyers; most valuable player on all-star night; Henry Sokolowski, playing-manager of Daws Sheet Metal and the year's most valuable pitcher; Dave Merritt of Venetian who accepted the home-run trophy on behalf of absent team-mate Elmer Vasko; Gord Gillette, named "Mr. Softball" of 1961 and catcher Dave Kemp of Drummond Cycle, the league's most valuable player. Daws were league playoff and OASA champions the past season while Podhorns Hotel copped the league pennant honours.
