Description
The monument (centre) consists of a square column sitting atop a plain flat plinth and topped with a carved bust of Laura Secord ; an inscription runs down the centre of the column ; the location is Drummond Hill Cemetery ; various other headstones are in the background ; a white band runs down the right hand side of the card and the title is printed in black on this band ;
en-CA A heroine of the War of 1812, Mrs. Secord in the summer of 1813, walked 19 miles through swamp and bush from Queenston to Decew Falls to warn the British of an impending American attack. In 1861 the Prince of Wales rewarded her with a gift of 100 pounds for her bravery.
