- en-CA Used in the book Our Romantic Niagara by Albert H. Tiplin. This "pot boiler" is of brown limestone. When a specimen of pot boiler such as this is swept over a cascade of water it acts in tandem with rough sand particles, swirling rapidly and eventually cutting divets or "pot holes" into the bedrock below. Pot boilers have been known to etch holes into rock as much as 3 metres thick. Here, it is placed alongside a common baseball to give a relative idea of the boulders size.
