- from a stereo image no. 215 by George Barker for the private collection of Thomas D. Mahoney Buffalo New York
- en-CA The shanties used on the ice bridge were made of a wood covered with tar paper, and they came from the Canadian side. There was a convenient road there, leading down to the water's edge, and besides, the Canadian police were more lenient. At times some enterprising individual on the U.S. side would get the idea of going into business and throw planks over the bank at the U.S. incline, planning to pick them up later and build a shack. It was a simple matter for the U.S. Police to collect the fallen timber and confiscate it, thus thwarting plans. Taken from Niagara - Maid of the Mist
