Second Clifton Hotel on Fire

The fire began in the north wing next to the Lafayette Hotel, very early in the morning. The fire spread through the inside of the hotel attic. In this photograph the fire has reached the centre of the hotel.

The fire began in the north wing next to the Lafayette Hotel, very early in the morning and spread through the inside of the hotel attic ; this view shows firefighters spraying water on the north wing where it adjoined the centre section. The main entrance to the hotel was through the pillars shown here and access was by way of Falls Avenue opposite the Foxhead Hotel ;

Ruins of the Clifton Hotel after the fire December 31 1932

The fire began in the north wing next to the Lafayette Hotel, very early in the morning and spread through the inside of the hotel attic ; this view shows the west wing which ran along Clifton Hill. The fire was not extinguished until it had reached the end of this wing. Parts of the rooms and some furniture was all that remained. When the ashes cooled local citizens searched through them and many homes in Niagara Falls have crockery and tableware items which were salvaged.
