Aug 9,1798); father of Elizabeth, John, Catharine Young, Mary, Robert, Frederic, Edmund, Phoebe Wilde, William, Caroline Eva Hagan and Elizabeth Jane Young; eldest son of Elizabeth (nee Bloome) and Jacob DeCew; brother of 5 siblings; war of 1812; captured and imprisoned; escaped from Philadelphia jail and returned home to Canada; buiklt stone mill at DeCew Falls; later decided to re-locate and built a grist- and a saw-mill in Cayuga Township; built Methodist church;
