en-CA born 1707 near Worms, Germany; d. 1779; husband of Mary Julianna Huber; father of Leonard, George, Phillip, Christopher, John, Abraham, Peter, Elizabeth, ElizabethPetrie and Benjamin plus firstborn child (?); 1732 arrived in Philadelphia; eventually settled in Walpack, New Jersey (near border of New York); ca 1772 moved with family of 8 sons to Wyoming valley in PA; owned 116 acres at Kingstown on Susquehanna River; joined Butler's rangers together with 6 of his sons; Wintermute family returned to Fort Niagara with Butler's Rangers; 2 grandsons later served with British forces in War of 1812;
