Mar 21,1833; husband of Gertraud [Charity] Ecker (m. 1775); father of of Mary [Maria Eliza] Fox, Elizabeth Crysler, Barbara Jones, Peter, Catharine Campbell, Michael, Margaret Overholt, Matthew, Phoebe Wurts, Charity Potts, Kezia and Sarah Marsh (2 eldest born in America, others born in Canada); grandson of Ludwig Wanner [Warner]; 1777 joined British forces under General Burgoyne; 1778 made his way to Niagara; joined Butler's Rangers; served as Sergeant until 1784; 1783 brought wife and 2 children over from Albany to Niagara; 1794-1810 served with Lincoln Militia; U.E.L. of Beverly and Niagara townships; 1788 converted to Methodism and was appointed Class Leader; 1795 until his deathappointed General Stewart for Niagara circuit;
