en-CA b. 1770 (Scotland); d. 1856; buried in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Churchyard, NOTL; husband of Elizabeth Hixon (m. 1796); father of Janet [Jennett] Thompson, John, Daniel, James, Timothy, Jenny and Thomas; son of Janet (nee McMicking) and James Cooper; 1774 emigrated to America; 1776 brought to Ontario as prisoner by the Indians; during war of 1812-14 served as Lieut. With 2nd Lincoln Regiment; 1812 promoted to Capt.; 1816 purchased land from The Hon. Thomas Clark; Mason with Queenston Lodge; member of Church of Scotland; architect of the original plans for the second St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, NOTL;
