- Laura Ingersol Secord resided at this Chippawa home for 27 years. A heroine of the War of 1812, Mrs. Secord in the summer of 1813, walked 19 miles through swamp and bush from Queenston to Decew Falls to warn the Bristish of an impending American attack. In 1861 the Prince of Wales rewarded her with a gift of 100 pounds for her bravery. Laura Secord attended Holy Trinity Church. She died here, October 17, 1868 at the age of 93 and was buried in the Drummond Hill Cemetery ;
